As there is a requirement for no obstruction to be placed nearer than 1.5 metres from the road, large stones on verges are not acceptable. The Council will be taking steps for these stones to be removed from verges in the village.

Bus schedule changes
The recent introduction of the 489 bus route from Glenfinart to Toward has met with widespread disapproval as frequently the timetable did not tie-in with Dunoon ferry departures. Councillor Marshall advised that the bus schedule is to be changed at the end of June.

New Argyll Trust
The Councillor outlined the work of the new Argyll & the Isles Coast & Countryside Trust, of which he is a board member. The first meeting concentrated on the elimination of rhododendron ponticum. As villagers will be aware there is currently a major rhododendron eradication project being undertaken by Forestry Commission Scotland around Ardentinny.

Plans for new Ardentinny cycle route

cyclingPlans for a 25 mile cycle route from Kilmun Arboretum to Whistlefield, Ardentinny and back to Kilmun using existing forestry tracks were outlined by Councillor Bruce Marshall at the recent Ardentinny Community Council meeting. Preparations are also underway to promote and organise a cycle event using the new route in 2015.

Also under consideration is Ardentinny Outdoor Centre and Benmore Centre being used to disseminate visitor information on the area to children visiting the centres.

Mobile Library at Ardenfield

Ardentinny residents are reminded that the Mid Argyll Mobile Library visits the village every 4 weeks and provides a very useful community service for all. As the service is linked to the main library database, you can join at the mobile library if you are not already a member. You can also take out or return books loaned from any of the library branches, ideal if you are unable to return the book to the original branch. Please remember that if we don’t use the mobile library, we may lose it!

You can get more details on the Mobile Library service by contacting Gordon Swanson on 01546 602072 or 07990 773102, or why not pay the library a visit in Ardentinny soon!. Check mylenders com au.
